| A person’s credit history is a picture of how well he or she was able to manage his/hers monetary affairs over the years. Basically, it is a personal financial report card, showing how a person handles his liability to reimburse the money he or she owned. Credit history can be checked through a Credit bureau, an independent agency that collects information on people who consistently use credit. The credit bureau plays a central role of a mediator that gathers credit information facilitating lenders to access more efficiently their accurate credit history. Upon checking your own credit history you will typically receive a special credit history report and it is your own responsibility to carefully check that all the information listed there indeed reflects the reality. It is not advisable to skip over details such as Social Security numbers, National Insurance number, current addresses and different name spellings etc. This may result in the unfortunate event where your credit history was assigned to other people, mistakenly. Generally speaking, a credit report contains essential information about a person’s credit history, including listing of all his credit cards ever used, bills that have or have not been paid on time, his background is clear from arrests, court appearances, or other lawsuit related events. A person found to have a poor credit history may get denied of a certain credit or charged with higher interest rates on a loan. Credit history can be accessed through institutional Internet links. Yet, even though these credit bureaus are normally highly computerized and automated, it is not uncommon for errors to sometimes creep in. These inaccuracies necessitate customers to keep up with their credit standing and be highly attentive to details in their reports obtained. Credit reports generated by these bureaus are generally more accurate in urban than in rural areas for the simple reason that agricultural lenders are somewhat reluctant to report their real credit standing. |
