| One thing that most young girls dream of is becoming a model. From a very early age they begin dressing dolls and making them move for their own amusement. Pretty soon, though, they begin playing dress up themselves and they experiment with makeup at very young ages. It is not clear when they make the leap in understanding that what they like to do is pleasing to outside onlookers and that they could do this more. At any rate, at some point, probably depending on their individual influences they begin to pretend to be a model, and show off their clothes to admiring audiences. Young girls and older ones, as well, often model their behavior on what they see on television. It would be interesting to study what part the type of image seen on television plays for the eventual model. For the most part any commercial contains a female figure dressed provocatively with the emphasis on the beauty of the woman and the object being sold -- and usually the message is very clear. Such women in commercials always have a very slim figure and they wear clothing that accentuates certain lines and proportions all add their own sex appeal to the commercial appeal of the product being advertised. A female model will also be used in fashion shows, though, and maybe this has more appeal even than commercials for the young girl. Aspiring to be a model can be very difficult, and not many are really made for the job. |
